How can you tell when a diesel engine is fueled properly?
The engine is fueled properly when the temperature in the exhaust manifold is 1200 degrees. This is when the engines air flow is balanced with he proper amount of fuel and will produce the best efficiency and power. If the EGT is over 1200 degrees under full load you must either reduce fuel flow or increase airflow into the engine to bring the temperature down. If you have low EGT you will want to increase the fuel flow until the the EGT's reach close to 1200 degrees.
